We are Tony and Kris. We reside in Oregon with our dogues Charlotta, Artemis, Calais, Capitain Jack, Arlette, Cadence, T'Amore and Dreamy. We became involved in the Dogue de Bordeaux in 2000, when we adopted our first, Monet, from a local rescue group. We soon found out that Bordeaux' are like potato chips, you can't have just one. So, we purchased Boogie, aka Phoenician's Bouguereau (7/29/01-3/29/07). The numerous health issues Boogie has had made us want to get more involved with the breed, and learn as much as possible and to help others going through similar things with their dogues. The more involved we got, the more we wanted to help make the breed better. We started doing rescue and breed education. In 2003, we purchased our first show dogue, Bacchus. He and I thoroughly enjoy showing. In 2005, we brought in our first imported female. Charlotta is from Slovakia. In 2006 we imported Artemis from France. Charlotta earned a few championships, but was retired from showing as she hated it. Artemis started her show career off with a bang, her first set of shows, she took Best of Breed puppy all 5 shows, with very strong competition! She has earned multiple championships including her AKC Championship, as well as being ranked #4 Bitch for 2006 by the DDBSA. In 2007, we brought in Calais, also from France. She too has started off her show career and was one of the few puppies at the French National to receive the rating of Very Promising. In 2008, we brought in Capitain Jack from France. He has begin his show career and so far, he has done well. In 2009, we added our first black mask, T'Amore and are thrilled that the 9 year dream of wanting a black mask has finally become a reality. December 2007, we produced our first litter and have kept Arlette and Armani from that breeding as well. In 2009, we kept a pup from two different litters, Cadence and Dream. 2010 was a very, very difficult year for us as we lost Bacchus (to lymphoma), Monet (our first ddb, age 12-14, to bloat) and Lotta (also to Lymphoma and stomach cancer). 2011 started with a fabulous showing at Nationals with Matrix bringing home a Best in Sweeps and a winners dog (5 point major) during the show weekend and then in June, we brought home the pups we have been waiting for for many years! We are looking forward to a marvelous 2011.
We have evolved into breeding kennel that produces a limited amount of litters a year once our girls reach maturity and pass their health testing. Since we are heavily involved in rescue, we see what happens when back yard breeders produce litter after litter and don't care about the future of the breed. We care about the future of this breed and it's health problems. We are researching and learning as much as we can about breeding, genetics and bloodlines because we want to do it right. We are showing our dogues and have imported the best bloodlines from Europe to build the foundation for our program. We stand behind what we produce, we health test, we follow the code of ethics of the DDBSA, we show, we microchip all of our pups, we register all of our litters AKC, and we remain in contact with our "new" extended families. These are things that responsible breeders do. With determination and persistence we will produce healthy, excellent examples of the breed and place them in loving homes. We are very passionate about the Bordeaux and love and respect the breed and will do our best for the future of the Dogue de Bordeaux.
